Hair gives the first impression of the person, its loaded with meaning, it speaks volume about who we are, our health, our wealth, how we live and how fashionable we are.

As much as clothes, the hair we wear is a badge of identity.

 

Hair care will differ according to one's hair type and according to various processes that can be applied to hair. All hair is not the same; indeed, hair is a manifestation of human diversity.

What is hair?

Hair is protein, it's about 97% protein and 3% water.

The condition and health of your hair is a reflection of three factors:

- your general state of health

- your diet

- and how well you look after it

If your lifestyle, health and diet are not up to scratch, then neither will your hair be, which leads neatly to the idea that "Beauty comes from within".


Nutrition

Poor nutrition is not only bad for health in general, but particularly bad for skin and hair. To improve the quality and condition of new hair, follow Philip Kingsley's advice:

" Three balanced meals a day are important - each containing carbohydrate, protein, fat, minerals and vitamins - and many women are not eating that. Breakfast is the most important meal for hair and it should contain protein, as should lunch, which is the second most important meal for hair. Most people eat enough protein at dinner but that is really the least important meal for hair. For lunch aim for 120-140 g of protein: that is, a piece of fish, chicken or turkey breast, or seafood pasta. There is no quick fix for hair. It will take some months to see a difference, but after 18 months your entire head of hair could be completely transformed and certainely your skin will be glowing".

 

The sun

The sun damages hair as easily as it does skin. It dries it out and damages the colour and the cuticle.

That's why it has to be treated well, like at the beach try to keep your hair covered with a scarf or hat, or you can slick it with leave-in conditioner, which will be activated into super-duper efficiency with the heat.
