  • Day 3 of "The Execution" was Marketing


With all the bad weather and the traffic jam, all the teams arrived safe and enthusiastic as ever!

The workshop started with "Startup Marketing and Communications" with Jimmy Ghazal from Quantum who talked about the principles of Social Media and the fundamentals of branding.

The second part was on "Social Media Marketing" with Marc Dfouni who shared his social media strategy.


 

  • Day 4 of "The Execution" was Capacity Building & Team Dynamics  

 

It was Play time on the last day of the owrkshop, they had several games from paper ring to trust game...

The teams also got to pracice on their 90 second pitch.

 

 

Now Play time is over, the teams will be working hard during the week-end; coding, designing, planning and executing!!

Day 2 of "The Execuion" was Design !


Part 1: "Design Thinking & Rapid Prototyping: Tammam Yamout of Penguin Cube


The teams were drawing their imaginary washing machines, there were designs targeting kids, people in a hurry, illiterate people, busy businessmen . Some designs could detect different colours automatically, communicate with the user, and have voice interaction to guide the user, some even came with sound effects like the porsche sound.

There were really amazing features and very creative ideas!


Part 2:  Minimum Viable Product: Samer Karam of Seeqnce

Samer Karam explained @Seeqnce 's 3x3 principle: 3 features, 3 tests, 3 shortcuts for a minimum viable product.

 

It was an amazing workshop, still two workshop days to go before the 48h bootcamp!!

The training phase of "The Execution" started yesterday, the 11 teams were present, getting ready to discuss, debate, and pitch their ideas.


The training started with Michel Nehme of Cedrus Ventures explaining the do's and don'ts of business to the teams, also talking about target markets and Ads for their target markets.

Followed by Michel El Meouchi of Badri & Salim Law Firm explaining the Startup Law to the 44 entrepreneurs.

It was a very active training with role playing, the teams were asking each other questions and taking opinions. 


The winners of yesterday's GEW Launch Partners' Pitch Competition were:

  • 1st place with 28 votes: MIT
  • 2nd Place with 20 votes: BAU
  • 3rd place with 19 votes: BADER
  • 4th place with15 votes: Seeqnce 
  • 5th place with 14 votes: Toastmasters

H.E. Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnaoui is confirmed to lead the Jury of "The Execution" Lebanon's 1st Internet Startup Competition.

Seeqnce, Lebanon's first internet startup accelerator, and Cedrus Ventures, are organizing a startup competition during the month of November 2011.


The Execution brings together developers, designers, and business persons from across the country to form teams, train and compete on executing their business ideas. The Competition is open to all professionals, freelancers, and students.


The participants will be between 24 and 48 select individuals who exhibit entrepreneurship traits in the Preparation Phase. The participants will form 6 to 12 teams, each team tackling one idea throughout The Execution to form a startup. The winning team's startup will receive valuable prizes worth over $10,000 and a convertible note investment [from Cedrus Ventures] along with expert advisory [from Seeqnce] to help them mature the product over the course of 3 months.

The Registration deadline was on November 9 and the Execution started on November 10, with the preparation part. 50 people attended, Ideas were submitted and 11 teams were formed.

Now things are heating up, and on Monday November 14 the training part will start with workshops during 4 days, each day will be covering a different topic:

 

  • Day 1: Business: business models, market analysis, investment strategies, etc.
  • Day 2: Product: minimum viable product, design thinking, rapid prototyping, user experience, etc. [in talks with IDEO & Eric Ries]
  • Day 3: Marketing: mainstream marketing strategies, social media marketing, communications and honing the message, etc.
  • Day 4: Team: teamwork, entrepreneurial mindset, leadership, selling, etc...

The workshops will be followed by a Bootcamp week-end (November 18-20), teams will have to develop a working prototype of their product within 48 hours and at the end of the week-end, the winning team will be selected.

The winning team will be the one that executed best their web or mobile application business idea.

And on November 25, "The Execution" will end with a party announcing the winning team.

Two fundraising fashion shows were held, one in Beirut and one in Dubai to support breast cancer awareness as well as local and international organizations.

Established designers showed off their tremendous support for this campaign by designing original bra and t-shirt designs within the “Designer Piece”Category that was actualized by the designers themselves and were auctioned during the runway show.

I haven't been finding a lot of  interesting Pink items to post them during this month.


I was just checking my Facebook account which led me to a Post by Fashionista.com that led me to SPERRY top-sider where I saw this cute Pink shoe that can be worn everyday, it looked very comfortable to me.
